Oil Fields in Southern California
We stayed in this California Town Ben Lomond.
The town of Ben Lomond, California, was officially named in 1887 when residents chose the name for their new U.S. Post Office. Original name: The community was initially called Pacific Mills, named after a local sawmill operation. A new identity: In 1887, the residents decided to adopt the name of the nearby Ben Lomond Mountain, which had been named by a Scottish settler in 1851 after the mountain in Scotland. The new name was chosen after the U.S. government expressed concern that the name “Pacific Mills” was too common.
