302/351W “SHP Blocks” (Special High-Performance Blocks)
With an 8.200” deck height and a choice of 4.00” or 4.125” Siamese cylinder bores, the 302 “SHP” block can safely be bored to 4.185”. The steel main caps use 1/2” bolts and are splayed 4-bolt on the center three and 2-bolt on #1 and #5. The valley accepts factory roller lifter guides and retainer (spider). Decks are .625” thick and the Siamese cylinders have a minimum wall thickness of .230”. A great starting point for a hot rod engine with up to 600 horsepower, it’s compatible with stock components. Boss 351 Siamese Bore Wet Sump Blocks High-performance 351 CID cylinder blocks intended for competition use. 351 Boss race casting is fitted with four-bolt, nodular iron main caps on journals 2, 3, 4, and 5.
