FOCUS ON GAS HEATING & SAFETY

MANUFACTURER - KANE INTERNATIONAL LTD

JONATHAN KANE, CHIEF EXECUTIVE OF LEADING UK MANUFACTURER KANE INTERNATIONAL LTD, HIGHLIGHTS THE IMPORTANCE OF USING THE RIGHT EQUIPMENT TO LIMIT LIABILITY RISK... Testing heating appliances with the right equipment

Using the right equipment to test heating systems stops you accidentally causing injury or death. It also leaves the appliance as the manufacturer intended. Lord Kelvin’s phrase “To measure is to know” especially applies to heating systems, given combustion products are invisible and odourless. Relying on visual signs to check an appliance will compromise your defence if you cause an injury or death. Regardless how clean the boiler or gas fire, it’s easy for a chimney or flues to become blocked, allowing dangerous carbon monoxide to poison anyone living in the home. Better safe than sorry. Today’s test equipment must meet European standards EN50379 for combustion emissions and EN50543 for commercial catering equipment and ventilation. Check your existing or new analyser is independently tested: Analyser manufacturers can self test their latest designs, but it’s more rigorous to have them tested independently so all KANE analysers are tested by TUV Munich before launch. Know how to use your analyser: Not changing fuel settings affects combustion efficiency and excess air calculations, giving misleading information. Look after your analyser: Check water traps and filters are dry and clean, and your combustion probe and tubing aren’t cracked or wet from use. Always power on and off outdoors so analyser sensors recalibrate in fresh air before use. Please don’t leave your analyser in a vehicle: Cold weather affects performance and battery life and your vehicle risks becoming a target for thieves.

KANE CARE replaces your analyser, probe, charger, carry bag and printer if they can’t be repaired for up to 20 years from new.

KANE Analysers recommends always using analysers certified to EN50379 or EN50543.

“Analysers require yearly re-certification as they are essential equipment.”
