Loyd J. Bourgeois Attorney-at-Law
A friend called and shared the news. It took my breath away.
Tears flowed; nothing to say.
Not this guy; not this way.
Smaller in stature but big in every other way.
A best friend back in the day.
Minutes, hours, days, and nights spent growing up together, learning to be who we would become.

Days before ubiquitous pictures and such, we mostly have only memories stacked like photos on the hutch.
From lazy summer days to late nights out, daily rides to school, concerts, and epic trips, lives intertwined at pivotal moments of growth.
So much shared joy sprinkled with some pain.
So much said but so much left.
Experiences that molded us; transformed us.
And although our lives had diverged, our paths would sometimes cross. And in those moments, I reminisced about the friendship we long ago shared and reflected on our differing life experiences between here and there.
And while those happy coincidences will be no more, I’ll treasure those memories forevermore.

THIS EDITION’S REVIEW ROUNDUP
“Loyd Bourgeois and his team of lawyers have been my choice and my go-to for issues in my life, such getting my disability compensation and more recent events of a car accident. These folks on the Bourgeois team are more than just disability lawyers, they are more than personal injury lawyers, these professionals are your friends.
My injuries sustained from my accident became a priority to them, which made all the difference in my world. These guys made me feel like we were family. They also saw to it that by listening to me talk about the issues most concerning to me that they diligently worked towards a position of winning my case. They made certain that my issues were first. And they won my case for me. With all of the law firms that are out there and giving my personal experiences both on disability
compensation and winning a major case with personal injuries sustained, once again, MR. LOYD BOURGEOIS AND JERRY LASALLE along with the team at LOYD BOURGEOIS’ OFFICE have proven to me that no matter what your issues are, they will listen to you just as they did me. Only this law firm listened with compassion, and believe me, they will with your concerns, too.” – Claire
THE LJB LEGAL DIFFERENCE • We listen with empathy, and WE CALL PEOPLE BACK! • We are working-class LSU fans. FROM CHILDHOOD BELIEFS TO REALITY: CULTIVATING LEADERSHIP SKILLS AT RYLA
When I was growing up — way back in the 90s (...and 80s) — I held the misguided belief that leaders were born with the innate ability and skills to lead. I didn’t learn any better until well into my professional career. Now, don’t get me wrong. Not everyone is cut out for leadership, and some do have more of a natural gift than others. However, leaders can be developed, and leadership is a learned skill.
Sophie was one of two local campers the St. Charles Parish Rotary Club sponsored. The campers spent a week in a cabin with other developing leaders from across the area, focusing on teamwork, strategic decision-making, effective communication, and more. The campers participated in activities and listened to selected speakers share their expertise.
At LJBLegal, we love helping people and continue to work hard to provide our clients with the best experience through challenging times. If you happen to know of anyone who was hurt in an accident or needs help obtaining disability benefits, please have them reach out to us at (985) 240-9773. We are always thankful to those who trust us enough to recommend us to their family, friends, and/or clients. THANKS FOR YOUR REFERRALS! • William McGrath • R. Sophie returned full of stories and new friends and learned skills she could use in the future. (She also returned very tired.) She said it was one of the best experiences of her life. Having such camps available to our young leaders bodes well for the future. It also gives Sophie some skills and abilities she can teach Dad!
Last week, my daughter, Sophie, had the great opportunity to learn invaluable leadership skills at the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA). RYLA is a week- long, interactive, immersive camp for rising high school seniors.
IN THE COMMUNITY
ROTARY PICKLEBALL TOURNEY We had a smashing good time at the first St. Charles Parish Rotary Pickleball Tournament. The weather held out for us, and the event was a great success. We are looking forward to keeping this tradition going and making it bigger and better in the years to come.
REID'S JOKE CORNER
A man is standing on deck, gazing out at the water. As the ship passes a small remote island, he spots somebody. He squints to make out what he sees – a thin, straggly man

with wild-looking hair. He watches as the man runs from side to side, jumps up and down, and waves his arm. The cruise passenger turns to the captain and says, “What’s up with that guy?” The captain shrugs and replies, “I don’t know, but he’s happy to see us every year when we pass!”
BACK-TO-SCHOOL BACKPACKS We were grateful for the opportunity to donate school supplies to fill back-to-school backpacks that were distributed at Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Ama. Those needing a backpack or supplies for the upcoming school year were encouraged to attend. We wish all students a successful and productive school year ahead!
