Calf Purchase Program
We want to help all our customers maximize the value of their calf crop. Tim Dietrich serves as our Direc- tor of Commercial Relations. Tim spent over twenty years as the Beef Cattle Marketing Specialist for the Kentucky Department of Agriculture.

We bought over 1,300 Branch View sired calves the last two years, returning more than $100,000 over Kentucky market average to our bull customers. The commercial heifers are rep- resented in our sale, and the steer mates were fed at Beef Belt Feeders, Kansas and harvested at National Beef, Dodge City, KS. We return individual carcass data back to our bull custom- ers for use in improving their programs. We DNA parentage verify all steers and turn the harvest data into the American Angus Association for use in improving the EPD accuracy of our customer’s herd bulls.

VALUE ADDED PROGRAMS
While our goal is to produce outstanding bulls, we cannot do that with- out an efficient and productive cow herd. Since 2018, we have been participants in Maternal Plus. A voluntary whole herd reporting program that gives us the tools to monitor and improve our cow herd. The records below are used in EPD calculations that allow us to identify and avoid potential problem animals. Whole herd reporting • Maintain an accurate cow inventory with the American Angus Association • Report breeding dates and sires • Report animal disposal dates and reasons such as cull, death, or other reason. • Allows us to identify consistent problems and minimize or eliminate the cause. Cow score at weaning • Weight, height, body condition and disposition • As we increase calf performance, maintaining appropriate cow size is vital for our customers. Foot score • Record annually and cull animals with poor scores. Udder score • Record at calving and cull animals with poor scores.
