1998 Jim Hunt won the Winter Championship at Chichester Y.C. from Jamie Lea and Rob McMillan, the fleet of 45 enjoying cold but fresh conditions. You could buy a Milanes centreboard for £299 and Andy Miles started building very quick Solos for £2885, painted, varnished with foils and they would win the World and National Championships in 99. Bob Taylor was class president, Gordon barclay having served the class so well. There were 62 new builds registered. Jim Hunt wins the UK title (Paignton) in a Gosling 4102, vanda young her third vacher cup and Damon Jackman took the turnbull trophy back to Chichester y.c.
