2001 Felpham host the Nation’s Cup which is won by Jim Hunt (Winder 4336) from Ken Falcon and Mark Needler. The north sm8 sail was used by the top two and matched with the proctor cumulus, would become the weapons of choice for many sailors. There were three Winders in the top ten so not totally dominant by any means. Jim Hunt and Paul Hobson win the endeavour trophy again. Vanda Young wins her fourth vacher cup, this time in a miles 4283 and c. Rae wins the junior title for the Netherlands. Tom Davis secures the Presidential role from bob Taylor. the centreboard case was allowed to include strengthening around the bolt area. ISAF and the RYA put forward the idea of measuring Solo sails on the floor with no battens, something abhorrent to anyone who had sailed the boat pre 2000 but this would become standard practice in the future. Vic Crawshaw started decking Winder hulls to a very high level. Steve boon (wood) and Tony Lock (foam core deck utilising a winder hull) exhibit their builds at the dinghy show. Robin Webb won the plate trophy at the national championship, Jim newman had won it in 2000.
