Roger Gravatt had been in long consultation with a noted spar manufacturer following a spate of mast breakages, it was found that the process of tempering them was at times insufficient to meet T6 requirements but this was quickly rectified. Tom Gillard (below) moved from P+B to North Sails and collected the Inland title in the Speed Sailboats 5.5 from Davis and Sims.
