2015 It was a pretty bad year for losses, John Davey was the nsca treasurer for a good few years, his calm manner and a humour as dry as sherry always delivered succinct advice, keeping the class on a sure footing. If he was the chalk then John daniels was the cheese, a.g.m.’s being anything but calm if he had an axe to grind but his passion for the solo to remain as close to the original drawings was not a bad thing, Martin Lambert was the gentle giant of the fleet, a classy sailor who could drive his lovett 3350 through gales and flat calms with equal skill and lastly my dad, who set me on the path I lead now, his love for the solo was his gift to me. Membership was 812. this would be Roger gravatt’s final term in office and he left having overseen a number of solo related issues including the conclusion of investigations into mast breakages, the control of builder licenses and the introduction of supplier discounts to NSCA members. Will loy decided to throw his hat in the ring for a term. The boatyard at beer and winder boats displayed their builds at the dinghy show and Ovington Boats announced they would be moulding the boon solo. David walford had taken over from mike evans as hon treasurer with Phil Sturmer stepping into a membership role. Robert Laurie had replaced Martin allen who had done a Stirling job. Pete mitchell won the noble marine winter championship (56 entries) and Andy davis beat tom Lonsdale, cumbley and fifty eight other competitors to win the spring championship. Andy Tunnicliffe won the Nigel Pusinelli trophy (48 entries) and cumbley took the national and nation’s cup titles at North Berwick (70 entries). Alex Corby first junior and Kate Masterson first lady. davis collected the inland title (99 entries) which helped him on the way to the inaugural north sails super series. Graham Wilson (below right) won a new north sails st2k mainsail and there was a whole war chest of further prizes, thanks to our amazing sponsors.
