2018 Richard lovering won a brutal pusinelli trophy at WPNSA, venue for the 2019 National championship despite capsizing in the first race of day two, Tim law and Pete mitchell completing the podium. 52 competitors made the trip to lake Garda for the nation’s cup and cumbley took the title with some impunity, 8 bullets and a second but everyone won given the sublime conditions. Peerke kortekaas was top dutch sailor in fourth behind davenport and law. The inaugural vintage championship took place at Leigh on sea, Jonny wells taking the spoils in his thresher 3903. The venue is idyllic and the tide, something to behold. The national championship at Hayling Island was,. as usual well supported, cumbley defeating a fleet of 103. Special mention to Ellie cumpsty who, had not she Been drawn into a BFD in the last race (her third) could have finished second overall. Pete mitchell and Tim law were the other podium places. Richie Bailey won the plate series and his points score included two race wins and a second, not bad for a sailor who has no previous titles to his name. Doug latta was elected to the presidential role, unfortunately though, Doug lost his father during the event, a sad time indeed. Graham Cranford smith would step in as hon secretary from shaun welsh. Ross Harvey headed up a pre-inlands coaching day, the 19 trainees joined by 48 other competitors for the weekend’s racing. The forecast had been foreboding and this did effect the Norman high number. Tom gillard (below) took the overall win from Andy Davis and James Boyce. Tom also won the EOS at king George, Pete mitchell securing the north sails super series. Terry palmer’s name was drawn out of a hat for the new North sail, ironically, his wife had been picked to choose the ticket.
