GOLF

Centennial Member-Guest Golf Tournament

20-22 June 2024 To commemorate the centennial, we have some exciting news about our annual Member-Guest Golf Tournament, set to take place 20-22 June. We will be expanding the field by 50%! This year, instead of 96 teams (192 players), we will have a field of 144 teams (288 players). To accommodate the higher number of participants, we will be utilizing both campuses for the three days (Thursday – Saturday). On each day of the tournament, one half of the field will be playing at Arlington; the other at Fairfax. The championship shoot-out will still be held at the Arlington campus on Saturday afternoon as usual. At a quick glance, here’s how the weekend will look: Every day will consist of round-robin 9-hole matches within your flight. Everyone will play 7 matches in total for the weekend. Thursday: 27 holes (three matches) played at either the Arlington or Fairfax campus; cocktails and heavy hors d’oeuvres to follow that evening at the respective campus played; plus ones invited. Friday: 27 holes (three matches) whatever campus you didn’t play on Thursday; no evening reception. Saturday: 9 holes (one match) played at the same location you played on Thursday, Lunch for all players at Arlington following your match, plus the championship shootout. Blowout celebration in the evening at Arlington clubhouse. Breakfast, lunch, beverages, cigars – pretty much heaven. Not to mention some fabulous daily gifts – wait until you see what’s in store. Entries open on 4 March 2024 at 7:00AM! Click here for more information, and schedule of events.

The Washington Metropolitan Golf Association Senior ‘A’ Team competition matches will begin in April and continue into the first part of May as needed. Division winners will proceed on to play single elimination quarter, semi-final, and final matches. We need the best senior golfers, age 55 and over, to represent ANCC. Selection criteria for the team matches will be based on the 1 April handicaps (which are expected to be current and accurate). All matches are played at scratch. If you have a handicap of six (6) or below and are interested in being considered for the team, please contact the team co-captains, Steve Galing at (703) 407-0703 or steven_galing@msn.com or Lynn Wessman at (703) 626-4313 or lwessman@comcast.net. 2024 WMGA Senior Men’s ‘A’ Team The Senior Golf League of Northern Virginia was founded in 2004 to promote friendly competition between Senior Golfers at Country Clubs in Northern Virginia. This is organized play that develops new friendships and enhances your enjoyment of the game of golf and Club facilities. The SMGO program features an ABCD scramble at 8:30 AM typically on the first and third Wednesday of each month, at the Arlington course, commencing in April and continuing through October. Other scrambles may be scheduled during the season when play dates are available. All ANCC members are welcome regardless of their handicap. If you were a member in 2023, your membership will automatically be renewed for 2024. A sign-up list for new members to the SMGO will be posted in the Arlington Golf Shop by 1 December 2023. 2024 Northern Virginia Retired Men’s Golf Associated (NVRMGA)

Don’t miss out on a great experience competing against other country clubs and playing a variety of local courses. If you are 50 or older and retired from at least one occupation, you are eligible to join the league. ANCC fields two separate teams which are very competitive in league play -- one at Arlington and one at Fairfax. Both teams are always looking for new players. During the season the Arlington team will play 12 other teams both home and away for a 24-match season. The Fairfax team will play 10 other teams both home and away for a 20-match season. The League’s season runs from early April through early October. Play is on Thursday mornings and is four-ball match play with a 3-point Nassau, combined with a sweepstakes competition. We use handicaps in all matches and our team members have handicap indexes ranging from the single digits through the mid-thirties. As a team member, you will be assigned to play in at least a third of our matches during the season and may volunteer to play any matches to which you are not assigned. The home club provides practice balls and waives green fees. It also provides morning pastries, coffee, and a buffet lunch afterwards. The 2024 Army-Navy teams will be put together within the next few months and eligible ANCC members can sign up for either team. Visit the teams ’web pages on the ANCC website for signup instructions. Signups are open from now until 31 January 2024 for the Arlington Team and until 1 March 2024 for the Fairfax Team. The pages for the two teams can be found on the ANCC web site under Golf, ANCC Golf Organizations & Teams, Men’s Groups. For more information, visit the teams’ web pages. Sign up as soon as possible! SONS & DAUGHTERS PROGRAM

Have your children grown up within the Army Navy Country Club family, but have outgrown the age in which they may enjoy the facilities through your Membership? Children of current Members may be eligible for their own Membership at a discounted Initiation Fee if they meet eligibility criteria.

5 STAR PROGRAM

ANCC employees continue to go above and beyond for the membership. We are still honoring and celebrating our Five Star employee’s! Please continue to recognize the five star service you receive from our employees and nominate them to the Five Star committee by submitting an email to any manager.
