NE 2025 MONTLUCON Sophie de Beer

M y name is Sophie de Beer, and I have been passionate about Miniature Bull Terriers since 2007, when I welcomed my very first mini “Groovygirl of Velvet Spine” into my life. Her breeder asked me to show her and i did. She went on to win many shows and earned champion titles in several countries, my passion for the Miniature Bull Terier continued to grow. In 2010, I bred my first litter under the kennel name “Groovy Little Velvets”. Over the years, I’ve continued to be actively involved in the show and breeding world, as striving to contribute positively to the breed. I’ve been actively involved in the Dutch Miniature Bull Terrier Club, serving as a secretary since 2010. For the past 7 years, i have been giving weekly showhandling classes to exhibitors/handlers of all breeds. In 2021 i passed my judging license for the Bullmastiff and In 2023, I passed my judging license for Bull Terrier and Miniature Bull Terrier, which has allowed me to look at the (Miniature) Bull Terrier from yet another perspective and share my experience in a new way.

I would like to extend my thanks to the CFABT committee for the invitation to judge at the Nationale d’Élevage. It was a true honor to be part of such an important event, and I appreciate the warm welcome and hospitality I received. A sincere thank you as well to all the exhibitors for their entries and for presenting their dogs with great sportsmanship in the ring, and of course to my writer for making everything running smooth. Regarding the overall quality, varied from excellent till very good. Overall size and bites were good. My Best of Breed was a champion male of 8 years old, still in outstanding condition—a true credit to his owners. I was also pleased to see some very beautiful and promising minor puppies and puppies, which gives hope for a bright future for the breed. However, I did notice some dogs displaying a rather uncertain temperament, which is something to be mindful of moving forward. Attention should also be given to dentition and nail care. Proper teeth and nail maintenance crucial for the health and function of the dog. These small but significant details make a difference in both presentation and the long-term health of our Miniature Bull Terriers. Once again, thank you to the organizers, fellow judge, and exhibitors for making this event such a memorable experience. I look forward to seeing you all again in the future! Kind regards
