8) The Division Director reviews the promotion portfolios and forwards his or her recommendations for promotion to the VPAASS (Mid-February). 9) The VPAASS reviews the promotion applications and makes recommendations to President (Late March). 10) The President reviews and approves the promotion recommendations and presents list to Board of Trustees (April-May). 11) The Board of Trustees provides final approval for all promotion recommendations (May- June). The promotion portfolio must include the record of criteria for faculty promotion, the faculty member’s letter of hire, student evaluation forms for previous six semesters, supervisor’s classroom observations of previous six semesters, peer review summary, and evidence of achievement of required FLPTC duties. Tenure and Promotion Criteria Years in Service Criteria – To attain tenure, successful completion of a probationary period and a minimum number of service years at the College are required. Below is a table indicating the minimum criteria to be eligible for promotion and tenure: Faculty Ranks Promotion Criteria* Tenure Instructor 3 years (2 probation + 1 additional) 2 years probation + 4 tenure track** Assistant 3 years at Assistant Rank 2 years probation + 3 tenure track Associate 5 years at Associate Rank 2 years probation + 2 tenure track Professor N/A 1 year probation + 1 tenure track * Minimum years in current position to be eligible for promotion to a higher academic rank. ** After successfully completing a probationary period, faculty members are offered a tenure track faculty appointment. Promotion and tenure are not awarded solely by meeting the minimum number of years in service. Most faculty will need more than eleven years (the minimum) to move through the ranks of instructor to full professor. Candidates for promotion or tenure may apply at the start of the final year of service in their current rank. However, awarding of promotion or tenure will be contingent upon the faculty member's successfully completing year-end responsibilities. To receive tenure or promotion, the following are applicable: 1. Supervisor classroom observations: Satisfactory in 6 prior semesters 2. Peer review committee summary:

Demonstrated teaching excellence based on a rubric completed by the peer review team. Satisfactory in 3 prior academic years
