HAGERSTOWN COMMUNITY COLLEGE

Field Trips Instructors are permitted to take students on field trips. The Permission Request for Off-Campus Trip form should be submitted at least two weeks in advance of the trip. The form is located in Passport under the eForms Catalog, or found at the following link: https://passport.hagerstowncc.edu/. Final Exam Week A final examination is considered to be an important part of the evaluation for each course. The fall and spring semesters include a final exam period. During these semesters, refer to the Final Exam Schedule for the date and time of your class's final exam. Summer courses do not include a final exam period; summer final exams are administered on the last day of class. The Final Examination Schedule will be published on the College’s website for each semester at https://www.hagerstowncc.edu/docs/final-exam-schedule. Every effort will be made to develop a schedule in which no student is required to take more than two final exams in one day. When the schedule requires a student to take more than two final exams in one day, or if a student’s final exam conflicts with a class in a non-15-week session, a final exam may be administered in the Testing Center during final exam week at a time mutually agreed upon by the student and instructor. The final examination week is considered a contractual responsibility of all faculty members, including full-time, adjunct, and temporary senior lecturers. The normal full-time workload during this week is five two-hour time blocks during which the examination or alternative assessment will be conducted. Overload courses and laboratory responsibilities may modify the “examination week” workload. A faculty member faced with extraordinary circumstances may petition the appropriate Division Director for release from the final examination regulation. Grading /Grade Changes Assessment procedures and a grading policy must be outlined in the course syllabus or course guide, and faculty members must maintain grade reports for each student assessment. Acceptable grades recognized by the College can be found within the HCC catalog. Final grades will be reported through Self-Service and must be submitted by the deadline that has been established for the semester (see Appendix E). The Records Office will e-mail a reminder notice and online instructions on how to submit final grades approximately a week before the due date. Faculty will also be asked to submit interim progress reports (see Appendix F) for their courses. The names of students who are not passing the course are submitted and faculty should prepare to meet with these students to discuss their progress and course expectations. Normally, grades may be changed only by the instructor who assigned the original grade. If a grade needs to be changed, a “Request for Change of Grade” form (which can be obtained from the Records Office) must be completed by the instructor, and submitted to the Vice President of Academic Affairs and Student Services for approval. Alternatively, a “Request for Change of Grade” form may be found at http://www.hagerstowncc.edu/forms/registrarrecords/request- change-grade (see Appendix G). Please note the instructor is required to log into the HCC
