Section 5: Instructional Support, Services, and Additional Programs Faculty Resources The services, information, and resources listed below will aid faculty in carrying out their teaching responsibilities. In addition, advice from faculty colleagues on best teaching practices (regarding issues as varied as handouts to pedagogy) may be extremely beneficial. Information Technology Services Information Technology at Hagerstown Community College provides computing services to both students and staff. HCC maintains more than 1,000 computers on campus, multiple state-of-the- art computer labs, and over 100 smart classrooms. In addition, HCC is home to some of the latest equipment for use in skills labs associated with our health sciences programs, including imaging technology. Located in the lower level of the Career Programs Building, the Information Technology Department maintains a Help Desk Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. at extension 2457 for faculty or 2891 for students (Hours may change on demand. Please check with the web site for the most accurate times). The IT Help Desk supports our students with Self-Service, student email, and password assistance. Students can reach the Help Desk by calling 240-500- 2891, texting 240-329-4489, or emailing hccit@hagerstowncc.edu . College staff can submit work orders through the college e-mail address, trackit@hagerstowncc.edu. The Director of Information Technology and staff provide various services to faculty and instructional divisions including the following: • Assistance in determining hardware and software needs for the division and the individual faculty member; • Technical support in the repair and service of existing hardware recommended by the IT Department and housed in the division or in faculty offices; • Consultation with divisions and faculty concerning effective hardware and/or software configuration used for instruction in student labs (e.g., “open lab” in the Library and specialized labs as used by Nursing and Health Science); and • Implementation of the master plan of the College for instructional technology. The Technology Committee serves as an advisory group to the Director of Information Technology and staff. The Information Technology Department can be found on the HCC Website listed under: Faculty & Staff > Information Technology . Distance Learning The Distance Learning department oversees the college’s online and hybrid courses, administrates the central Learning Management System, and other e-learning software. Distance Learning provides training and support to all faculty, and responds to technical issues for
