Adjunct Faculty Resources All adjunct faculty are given an HCC email address, which they are expected to check regularly for important information and to use for communication with members of the college community, including student communications. In addition, each adjunct faculty member is emailed important information from the Office of Academic Affairs. This information should be read and kept on file. Adjunct faculty are expected to follow all of the same teaching guidelines (class attendance, syllabus, roster corrections, etc.) that full time faculty are expected to follow. Adjunct faculty questions or concerns should be directed to the Director of the academic division for which they teach, or to a full-time faculty member assigned by the Director. Additional helpful resources for new faculty can be found at https://hagerstowncc.libguides.com/fletcher. CARE Referrals The goal of the CARE Team is to serve as an outreach and resource team to students who are in need of support beyond academics, and who are not exhibiting unusual behaviors or behaviors that may have violated the Code of Student Conduct. The CARE team is able to link students with resources in the community to provide assistance. Common areas of support include shelter/housing, and counseling referrals to community partners who specialize in these services. The CARE team also provides a pro-active and holistic approach to address concerning behaviors in students. In these situations, the idea is to intervene and provide support before the students develop more serious problems such as harm to themselves or others, and before student’s make poor decisions that impact their academic record and financial aid status. All students reported to the CARE team are integrated in our reporting system Retention Alert. This system allows members to view a student’s entire record with the college to include any prior reports that have been made, creating a more comprehensive picture when working with each referred student. When a report is filed, CARE members will investigate the situation and provide the necessary level of intervention. In order to connect a student with CARE, staff/faculty should complete a Retention Alert by using Self-Service. The alert will be routed to a specific CARE member to prioritize and investigate. The assigned CARE responder may follow up with the reporter if additional information is needed. CARE Members include various Student Affairs staff who serve as student advisers in the offices of Retention & Registration, Disability Support & Cohort Programs, and TRIO Student Support Services. Retention Alerts are managed by Angie Auldridge (Manager,
