DO FOR ONE WHAT YOU WISH YOU COULD DO FOR EVERYONE

There’s a phrase I like that describes what we’re doing by focusing on individual families during the giveback campaign: “Do for one what you wish you could do for everyone.” We want to make a significant difference for a

As we approach the holiday season this year, it’s a good time for us all to consider how immensely blessed we are. I know many of our employees and family members are going through difficult situations, so feeling blessed and thankful amid challenging situations can be hard, but that’s all the more reason for us to take a step back and account for how much we have to be thankful for, even when the seas are rough, and the storms are relentless. For the second year in a row now, we’re kicking off a giveback campaign across all of our locations during the Thanksgiving holiday. The idea is for each location to consider how they can bless, serve, and love some families in need in their community. Rather than simply coordinating a food drive or a similar event, we want each location to focus on individuals in need in their community so the giving reflects more of what we value among employees, customers, and others we count on to run our business every day: relationships.

family or two this Thanksgiving season through the generosity of the company (which means you, the employee-owners) and individual employees at your location who may choose to contribute additional time or resources. From a position of thankfulness, from friends and family to our country, company, and coworkers, let’s be generous toward families in desperate need across our communities. Looking ahead to 2024, I’m encouraged by what I see around the company. We have largely done well in investing time and energy this year — a year we knew would be slower and more challenging on a variety of fronts — into getting better. I have seen signs of some of the hard work beginning to pay off, but I expect we’ll reap even more benefits as we get into 2024. While we’re expecting 2024 to be a similar year to 2023 in terms of the pace and volume of construction, we have an opportunity to do more with our customers and increase market share in key areas, which will help us grow and perform better in 2024. So, during the last two months of the year, let’s continue to push hard to finish the 2023 race well. We can’t control the weather, but there’s so much we can control or influence to make sure we finish the year strong. It takes us all, rowing in sync and in rhythm, to reach our potential as an organization. The 2023 finish line is within sight, but let’s resist any temptation to let up. Now is the time for the final push. Let’s keep each other safe. Let’s exceed customer expectations. Let’s finish strong!

HIGH FIVES!

Easy From: Mike Angier, McCall To: Matt Farnworth and Kory Kautz, McCall

“High Five to Matt and Kory for getting the truck washed and ready for the McCall/Donnelly homecoming parade. You made it easy for Franklin to represent well and serve the community.”

Wow From: Tyler Honn, Boise To: Boise Inside Sales Team

Safe From: Adam Palmer, McCall To: Aaron Davis, McCall Yard

“I had a conversation with a new customer, and one of the reasons why he is glad to be called an FBS customer is because of the way he is treated when he walks into the Boise store. He is always greeted with a “Hello” and “How can I help?” when he walks into the store. He specifically said that is different than the other guys! Good job, inside team — the small things like this are noticed!” Guide From: Eric Heiden, Burley To: Melissa Mallory, Burley “Without being asked, Melissa volunteered to train the sales counter’s newest hire, and she’s been very thorough. Thanks, Melissa!”

“A safety issue was brought to our attention during our yard audit regarding the I-joists. That same day, Aaron went out and remedied the situation without being asked.” Strive From: Austin Burrup, driver To: Pocatello Drivers “Big High Five to the Pocatello drivers for doing everything necessary to try to get ahead on our credit day.”

MEET JESUS ‘CHUY’ HEREDIA Our New Caldwell Truss Plant GM

when he was tapped as our next GM. Talk about a meteoric rise! Chuy is a great example of someone who embraces Franklin’s employee ownership culture. With a new truss plant and new leadership team, he knows he is part of something big at Franklin and says, “I take pride in passing that on to team members. To me, it’s our business, not just a place to come to work. All decisions affect us all. I appreciate how much they care about employee-owners.” Outside of work, Chuy owns four horses and trains quarter horses for riding. He also enjoys fishing and camping with his wife, Teresa, and his daughter and son, ages 23 and 17. We are so glad to have him on our team and watch him rise to the opportunity ahead of him. Oh, and by the way … he had never heard of cornhole until coming to Franklin.

James Vogel from GM at Truss to GM at TVID Interiors, there were big shoes to fill. Chuy had our attention and made the leap from Field Truss Rep to his new role that will evolve over the next several months of intensive training. Chuy’s life began in San Marcos Matugeo, Michoacan in Mexico. It is a small town of less than 500 people west of Mexico City. When Chuy was 10 years old, his parents, two brothers, and two sisters immigrated to the U.S. and settled in Nampa. His second job, when he was 18 years old, was at a local truss plant. He spent the next 20 years in and out of the industry and joined Franklin three and a half years ago in our saw shop and maintenance, recruited by his brother Miguel. The legendary Dennis Dempter (retired) knew Chuy’s experience and the way he interacted with people in a positive way and saw the potential in him as a Field Truss Rep. That lasted only one and a half years

You all may recognize Chuy as one of the “Minions” who has dominated our company’s cornhole tournament for the past two years. While he’s made his mark throwing a bag into a hole, he is also making his mark as our new Caldwell Truss plant GM “in training.” When the leadership team decided to move

In the Spotlight

Sandra, the Heartbeat of Our Bellevue Team IN THE SPOTLIGHT

Sandra has been with Franklin Building Supply for a year now, and we can’t imagine our Bellevue location without her. She enjoys working with a team that is supportive of each other and is always willing to lend a helping hand to other team members or customers. Outside of work, Sandra enjoys baking cakes and taking time to wind down and relax, since she really gives it her all when she’s on the clock. “A day on the job is like starting with a yoga class and wrapping it up with a boot camp,” she says. Sandra, thank you for your dedication. You help make Franklin Building Supply a great place to work, grow, and thrive, and our customers absolutely love you!

At Franklin Building Supply, our success hinges on the dedicated efforts of our employees. Our team embodies the values of hard work, integrity, and innovation, and we appreciate their unwavering commitment and invaluable contributions to our company’s growth. Sandra, our inside sales specialist at our Bellevue location, is one of our heroes behind the scenes. As Bellevue GM, Daniel Midbey, puts it, “Sandra is a machine. She orders every product that we stock, does half of the counter sales, and does all of the cycle counts inside the store. She is a highly respected individual amongst her peers at this branch. When she speaks, we listen.”
