Avoiding tenant liability charges

Tenant liability occurs when items in the home must be repaired or replaced because of the actions of a tenant, member of the household or a visitor. This damage isn’t always caused deliberately, it can occur over time and is often avoidable. We received feedback that tenants want more information about their responsibilities around their property and how to avoid tenant liability.

Don’t flush tissues, paper towel, sanitary products, or baby wipes down the toilet as they do not break down like toilet paper. This often leads to blockages which tenants would be charged for fixing.
