EL HANDBOOK - 2024

• More than a single number: The multiple measures of student success define a quality education more broadly than a single test score. • Equity: There is an increased focus on identifying and addressing disparities among student groups • Supporting Local Decision Making: State accountability tools provide information to support local planning processes around improving student performance. What is the California School Dashboard? The Dashboard is an online tool that shows how local educational agencies and schools are performing on the state and local indicators included in California's school accountability system. The Dashboard is a key part of major shifts in California K-12 schools, changes that have raised the bar for student learning, transformed testing and placed the focus on equity for all students. The Dashboard provides information that schools can use to improve. How is the Dashboard intended to be used? Parents/guardians, educators, other stakeholders, and the public can use the Dashboard to see how local educational agencies and schools are performing under California's new school accountability system. The Dashboard provides a quick overview, with additional details available, about overall performance and student group performance on multiple measures of student success. This will assist in identifying strengths, weaknesses, and areas in need of improvement for local educational agencies and school. What information does the Dashboard include? The Dashboard is made up of easy-to-use reports that show local educational agency or school performance on six state indicators and four local indicators (six for county offices of education). Users can search to see the reports for any local educational agency or school. What are state indicators? The state indicators are based on data that is collected consistently across the state from LEAs through the California Longitudinal Pupil Achievement Data System (CALPADS) and testing vendors. The state indicators are: • Academic Indicator (reported separately for English language arts/literacy and mathematics assessments) • English Learner Progress • Chronic Absenteeism Graduation Rate • Suspension Rate • College/Career Readiness (includes Grade 11 assessment results)
