PROGRAMME OVERVIEW
Delivered by IN4 Group on behalf of the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) and regional partners, TechFirst, formerly known as CyberFirst, and MEGA Hubs create inclusive pathways into cyber security and digital careers for children and young people across the North West and West Midlands.
“Young people in every postcode deserve the opportunity to a great
start to their adult life, and we are tackling the youth unemployment crisis head on.” Lisa Nandy Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport
TechFirst introduces young people to cyber security through immersive learning experiences, school engagement, industry-led activities and TechFirst Days that inspire future careers in technology. MEGA Hubs build on this foundation by creating long-term, place-based technology ecosystems within schools and colleges. The programme combines an industry-informed curriculum with mentoring, scholarships, bursaries, practical industry experiences and access to employers, helping
young people develop the skills and networks needed to succeed in the digital economy. A key feature of the programme is its commitment to widening participation, with targeted support for young people who may experience barriers to achievement due to disadvantage, neurodiversity or limited social capital. The MEGA Scholarship Programme further removes financial barriers by providing direct bursary support to learners progressing through the programme.
