Benches and splashbacks need to be monolithic surfaces where possible. They need to be easy to clean and easily repaired or replaced.

Kitchen designs and layouts should be in proportion with and adequate for the size of the dwelling. Consideration to the durability, life cycle, maintenance and cleaning needs to prioritised in the material selection and detailing of kitchens.
