D2.04 Lifts
SDA Lift Considerations Checklist:
Section Summary
• •
Refer to NDIS SDA Design Standard.
Ensure that vertical transportation within any development allows for accessible transportation to all floors served, in a quick and ecient manner.
Although not a statutory requirement, emergency power solutions to cater for a minimum two-hour outage where the welfare of participants is at risk is preferred. Provision of emergency power also requires fire rated cabling. Feasibility of this is to be discussed with HCA on a project by project basis. Data cabling provided from OOA data rack to comms cupboard, with connection to lift control box – ensure enough cable is provided to control all levels within building.

Lifts are to have:
(a) Lift speed to be a minimum 1.6 metres per second. (b) CCTV camera. (c) Interface the lift with the Building’s security system, including required wiring within lift shaft, mount card reader on lift control panel. (d) A Telstra phone line or dedicated mobile service. The contractor (or builder) is to provide connection from the MDF panel or mobile service to lift car. (e) A Lift emergency communication system. The specification shall be a wireless phone system using PIXEL Technologies Wireless Gateway system EM4GE1S. Lift specification is to be a preferred supplier such as Schindler, ThyssenKrupp, Kone, Otis or similar approved. Ensure no compromise is made on the quality of any of the lift components. Non-standard lifts, lift companies, loadings and any other lifts that require specialist WHS sign o will not be acceptable. Recommended installers must be engaged to undertake the lift installation. Lift redundancy is required, especially where SDA dwellings are being provided. In response to Covid, consider limiting dwelling numbers per lift to reduce capacity on a regular basis but and allow for lower density during any required whole building egress of all occupants. Lift specification subject to approval by HCA prior to ordering. Proposed lifts are machine room-less with the lift machinery built into the lift shaft. Lift specification is to be approved by HCA before ordering. WorkSafe lift registration to be included in As-Built documentation.
