City of Bristol College hosts meeting for Avonmouth regional members

“ BIFA Members will be encouraged to support careers events and bring young freight forwarders from their businesses into the college to talk directly about their experiences and career development with the students

B IFA regional representative Paul Cunningham hosted the Avonmouth regional meeting in January at the City of Bristol College launching the collaboration programme between both parties. The collaboration will bring together BIFA Members and the college so that the skills requirements of Members’ businesses are identified and can be included in the curriculum. To make students aware of the huge range of career options in freight forwarding and logistics, BIFA Members will be encouraged to support careers events and bring young freight forwarders from their businesses into the college to talk directly with the students about their experiences and career development. As well as the launch of the collaboration programme, the meeting covered regular agenda items including: • Heathrow Air Cargo Community Advisory Body and the rollout plans for the landside movements

for imports and exports; • Border Force updates on safety and security; • Updates from the BIFA team on all policy and compliance topics. BIFA would like to thank the City of Bristol College for hosting the meeting and for its proactive support of the collaboration programme that will benefit both BIFA Members and the future careers of college students. The next Avonmouth members meeting is 21 April, 11:00 am - 1:00 pm at the City of Bristol College. Please register via Eventbrite to attend.
