AERIAL DRONE COMPETITION PRO • RECF
b. In a Piloting Skills Match, Teams can earn points by performing a Color Match. Before the Piloting Skills Match has started, the Team must change the LED on the Drone to the color they intend to Land on during the Match. The color must be the same for the entire Match. For example, if the Team decides to select Blue, then they must Land the Drone on the Blue area of both Color Pads in that Match. A team can Score a Color Match on each of the Multi-color Pads if the following criteria are met: i. Prior to the Match starting or Drone taking off from the Take Off Zone, the Drone’s LED is set to one of the four Multi-color Pad colors (Red, Blue, Green, or White). 1. If a team forgets to set their LED color to Red, Blue, Green or White before taking off, the team may elect to Land back on the Take Off Zone and set their color during the Match, but they may not change their color midway through the Match (i.e., change from Blue to Green). 2. Teams are recommended to alert the Referee before the Match begins to indicate which color they will be targeting in that Match. ii. The Drone has Landed on the Multi-color Pad with the Drone’s Fuselage above the color that matches the Drone’s LED. 1. If the Drone’s Fuselage is over more than one color, at least one of the colors must be matching the Drone’s LED. 2. Since this is scored in real-time, Teams must indicate to the Referee when they will be Landing their Drone on the Multi-color Pad. Teams should be aware that the Referee has to validate the Color Match, so it’s recommended that the Drone remain Landed on the Multi- color Pad until the Referee has announced the Color Match. 3. Referees should give Teams “the benefit of the doubt” in edge cases where it may be difficult to see exactly where the Drone’s Fuselage is located. It’s not necessary to do any “paper tests” or additional
