AERIAL DRONE COMPETITION PRO • RECF
b. The Canister must remain in contact with the Coding Mat while being moved by the Robot or Drone. c. The Canister must contact the Staging Area before the Canister can contact a Decontamination Zone. d. The Robot may not contact the Staging Area or any of the Decontamination Zones during a Match. i. Violation Notes: 1. Piloting Skills Match: The Canister will not be considered Scored. 2. Autonomous Skills Match: The Canister may be reset to the initial unscored position during a reset of the Drone and Robot. If the Match ends before the Canister is reset, then the Canister will not be Scored. e. The Robot may not contact the Canister when the Canister is in contact with any of the Decontamination Zones during a Match. i. Violation Notes: 1. Piloting Skills Match: The Canister will not be considered Scored. 2. Autonomous Skills Match: The Canister may be reset to the initial unscored position during a reset of the Drone and Robot. If the Match ends before the Canister is reset, then the Canister will not be Scored. f. The Robot or Drone may not significantly move the Barriers surrounding the Decontamination Zones and Staging area. i. Violation Notes: Incidental movement that causes the Barriers to move less than approximately six inches in any direction will be considered a Minor Violation, and the Canister can still be Scored. Movements of the barriers that are intentional (appear to be strategic) or more than six inches in any direction will result in the Canister no longer meeting the criteria of being scored. Referees should give Teams “the benefit of the doubt” in edge cases where it may be difficult to see exactly how far the Barriers have been moved. It’s not necessary to do any “paper tests”, but rather use the grid lines on the Coding Mats as general guides - if it’s close, then no violation is applied. g. A Canister is considered to be Scored in a Decontamination Zone if it meets the following criteria: i. There are no violations of <SS7a> - <SS7f> rules during the Match. Refer to specific violation notes for <SS7d> - <SS7f>. ii. The Canister is fully or partially in contact with a Decontamination Zone, or if the profile of the Canister fully or partially overhangs a Decontamination Zone. The latter can be determined by placing a ruler next to the Canister (see Figure 4.22). iii. If the Canister is in contact or overhangs multiple Decontamination Zones, the Canister will be Scored in the highest Decontamination Zone that it is in contact with or overhangs.
