AERIAL DRONE COMPETITION PRO • RECF
<SS8> Park the Drone and Robot in the Containment Bay. A Drone or Robot is considered Parked at the end of the Match if the following criteria are met for each type of vehicle: a. Drone: i. The Drone has taken off and flown at some point after the Match has started. Placing the Drone on the Robot in the Take Off Zone and driving the Robot over to the Containment Bay would not meet this criteria. ii. The Drone is contacting the Containment Bay or is Docked on a Parked Robot. iii. The Drone is not contacting any portion of the venue Floor or Skills Floor outside of the Containment Bay. b. Robot: i. The Robot is contacting the Containment Bay. ii. The Robot is not contacting any portion of the venue Floor or Skills Floor outside of the Containment Bay. c. The Robot or Drone may not significantly move the Barriers surrounding the Containment Bay. i. Violation Notes: Incidental movement that causes the Barriers to move less than approximately six inches in any direction will be considered a Minor Violation and the Drone and/or Robot can still be Scored. Movements of the barriers that are intentional (appear to be strategic) or more than six inches in any direction will result in the Drone and/or Robot no longer meeting the criteria of being Scored. Referees should give Teams “the benefit of the doubt” in edge cases where it may be difficult to see exactly how far the Barriers have been moved. It’s not necessary to do any “paper tests”, but rather use the grid lines on the Coding Mats as general guides - if it’s close, then no violation is applied.
<SS9> Docked Drone. A Drone is considered Docked if the following criteria are met:
a. The Drone has taken off and flown at some point after the Match has started. Placing the Drone on the Robot in the Take Off Zone and driving the Robot over to the Containment Bay would not meet this criteria. b. The Drone is contacting the Robot. c. The Drone is not touching the venue Floor, Skills Floor, or other Field or Scoring Objects. Note : It is not required that the Robot be Parked in order for a Drone to meet these criteria. A Drone can be Parked and/or Docked.
