<SM5> Robots need to stay in the Field. During a Skills Match, the Robot must stay in contact with the Coding Mats.
a. During an Autonomous Skills Match, if a Robot inadvertently drives outside of the Coding Mat perimeter and makes contact with the venue Floor, then the Team must Disable the Robot and reset it. b. During a Piloting Skills Match, if the Robot is driven outside of the Coding Mat perimeter and makes contact with the venue Floor, the Referee can instruct the team to Disable the Robot for the remainder of the Match. i. Slight or momentary instances of the Robot going outside of the Coding Mat perimeter will result in the Team receiving a Minor Violation and a warning and no Disablement at the discretion of the Referee. ii. Repeated violations of <SM5> can result in a Disqualification for that Match. <SM6> Drones need to stay in the Flight Zone. During a Skills Match, the Drone must stay within the Skills Flight Zone (<S1>, <S3>). The Blue Keyhole extends slightly beyond the Coding Mats, and the entire area within the Blue Keyhole is also considered to be inside the Skills Flight Zone. a. Violation notes: i. Momentary instances where the Drone may fly outside the Flight Zone will be considered a Minor Violation if the Team is able to quickly rectify the situation and return the Drone to the Flight Zone. ii. If the Drone flies far outside the Flight Zone and is struggling to return or poses a safety risk, then the Referee can instruct the team to Disable their Drone. In an Autonomous Skills Match, the Team can then reset their Drone. AUTONOMOUS SKILLS MISSION RULES <AM1> Autonomous means “no humans.” During an Autonomous Skills Match, Drones and Robots must operate entirely using pre-written programming instructions. a. Mission Crew Members are permitted to start their Drones at any time during a Match from the programming device, but are not allowed to interact with the Drone, controllers, or programming device in any other way after the Drone has moved, except as stated in Rule <AM2> or to complete an emergency stop. b. Mission Crew Members are permitted to start their Robots at any time during a Match by pressing a button directly on the Robot or Controller, but are not allowed to interact with the Robot or controllers in any other way after the Robot has moved, except as stated in Rule <AM2> or to complete an emergency stop.
