5 Communication Mission & Awards

OVERVIEW During the Communications Mission, Teams will interview with judges to answer questions about their Team, engineering design process, coding, and competition notebook documentation. Judging occurs in between Matches, and a typical interview is ten minutes.

Judges will be using the Team interview rubric and competition notebook rubric to rank Teams for Judged awards. We encourage Teams to review and become familiar with the rubrics and supporting documents.

COMMUNICATION MISSION RULES

This section highlights three Communications Mission rules. Please review the Judges’ Guide for a more detailed list of rules and requirements.

<C1> All Teams must receive an interview. All Teams in attendance must be offered the opportunity to be interviewed by Judges. Teams may decline the interview, but it must be offered. <C2> No Team may earn more than one judged award. Teams may receive a performance award and a judged award, but not two judged awards. For example: • A Team may earn the All Around Champion Award and the Teamwork Champion Award. • A Team may not earn the All Around Champion Award and the Coding Award. <C3> Judges must follow the criteria and award descriptions as presented in the Judges’ Guide. To learn more about the Communications Mission and judging, check out the Judges’ Guide in the ADC Pro Library.
