<A3> Mission 2026-2027 ‘Industry Insights Award’ Topic: Powering the Future with Drones and Ground Robots Technology is changing the way we power the world, and both drones and ground robots are playing a big part. Teams are encouraged to explore how these tools are being used in the power and energy industry to inspect, maintain, and support critical infrastructure like power lines, wind turbines, and solar farms. How are drones and ground robots helping energy companies save time, reduce costs, and improve safety? What kinds of tools, sensors, or systems do they use? How are they supporting the shift to clean and renewable energy sources? Teams might explore: • How drones and ground robots reduce the need for risky, manual inspections. • The types of data each platform collects and how that information is used. • How these technologies are used in solar and wind energy fields. • The environmental and economic benefits of using robotics in energy systems. • How new technologies like autonomous navigation or AI could shape the future of energy operations. Teams that demonstrate how drones and ground robots are more than just cool technology and who thoroughly document their research while making clear connections to real-world companies, current careers, or future jobs that are meaningful to their team will be considered for the Industry Insights Award.
