AERIAL DRONE COMPETITION PRO • RECF
<DR8> Don’t intentionally clamp or entangle your Drone or Robot to the Field. Drones and Robots may not intentionally grasp, grapple, hook, attach to, or otherwise entangle any Field Elements. a. Strategies with mechanisms that react against multiple sides of a Field Element in an effort to latch or clamp onto said Field Element are prohibited. The intent of this rule is to prevent Teams from unintentionally damaging the Field and/or from anchoring to or otherwise Entangling themselves with the Field. b. In Teamwork Matches, Drones or Robots that become entangled in the net can attempt to detach from the net, provided that the net is not damaged in the process. If initial attempts to detach from the net are unsuccessful, then the Team must Disable their Robot or Drone for the remainder of the Match. The Head Referee will have final authority on Disablement due to net entanglement. <DR9> Teamwork Drone Requirements. a. Teams must use the MINDS-i Drone for Teamwork Matches from MINDS-i Education. Allowable MINDS-i Drone Models include: MCK-ADCP-MR2, CPK-UAM2-001 b. Identical replacement parts from these models are allowed, provided that it does not violate <DR9d>. c. Teams are allowed to bring one or more MINDS-i Drones to an event. If a Team elects to bring multiple MINDS-i Drones to an event, they must all meet the Teamwork Drone Requirements and pass Inspection before they can be used in a Match. Borrowing a MINDS-i Drone from another Team is not allowed. d. A MINDS-i Drone can be customized provided that the Drone includes the components in Subsystems 1 and Subsystem 2 that are provided by MINDS-i Education. These components cannot be substituted with custom parts and must be purchased from MINDS-i Education (or authorized MINDS-i reseller). i. Subsystem 1: Drone Frame components 1. MINDS-i Beams 2. MINDS-i Motor Mounts 3. MINDS-1 Safety Ducts (propeller guards) ii. Subsystem 2: Drone Electronics components 1. RADIX2 Flight Controller 2. XRotor 4-in-1 Speed Controller e. Additional custom mechanisms, servos, motors, sensors, custom 3D parts, decorations, etc. are allowed to be added to the MINDS-i Drone Subsystems provided they do not violate other rules. f. Pneumatics are not allowed. g. Drones must have safety ducts for each propeller so that they pass a “wall test”. In general, if the drone approaches a wall from any angle, any other part of the drone (such as safety ducts) should be the first thing to contact the wall to mitigate risk of propeller entanglement with the field and game elements.
