TEXAS MOTHERS AGAINST DRUNK DRIVING Is Proud to Announce STATEWIDE TEXAS VIRTUAL SUPPORT GROUP
A special opportunity for Texas Families
Hi . My name is Irma Olivares . On Thanksgiving 2003, my son , Alexis and his best friend , Alejandra Gutierrez were killed by a drunk driver in El Paso , Texas . My world was turned upside down and I continue to have good and not so good days . During my grieving process , Mothers Against Drunk Driving ( MADD ) was there . They were there during the court process and long after the crash . One opportunity that the El Paso office offered was a support group , that I attended . During these meetings , I reconnected with an old high school friend whose son was also killed at the same location as Alexis . I forged new lasting friendships through our loss and grief .
Every Wednesday of the week beginning on July 28 thru September 15 6:00 pm CST Texas Mothers Against Drunk Driving virtual support group is an 8- week commitment dedicated time for those who have been impacted by a drunk , drugged driving to come , listen , share , and offer support for others . The hope is that my attending , you will better able to process your journey and make connections with others on their healing path .
More importantly , I was able to share about the crash , court process , offer support , share memories , and speak of my sweet Alexis . Being able to speak his name and share his life , likes , and unique stories gave me a secondary home at MADD . Being able to share Alexis with understanding individuals made me feel that his legacy lives with MADD and others . My story helped those who were fresh in their grief . The support groups offered by MADD helped me with my grief and got me on a positive track to healing . I hope this virtual support group will help you in your journey .
