I. Purpose/Objective The purpose of this External Communications Policy is to provide Village employees and volunteers guidance in producing and disseminating information to the public. This policy applies to all departments within the Village of Pinehurst and all members of volunteer committees or boards. It covers written external communications that are distributed outside of the organization, media relations, public information requests, and informing employees of external communications. The policy is designed and intended to ensure Village employees and volunteers: • Communicate information in a consistent manner across all departments, • Communicate information in a timely manner, • Communicate information using consistent methods, • Create communications and materials in a manner that is consistent with the Village’s brand standards, • Have an efficient means to communicate information, • Are adequately and timely informed of information disseminated to the public, • Include direct methods of public feedback in all communications, and • Staff monitors public feedback received from communications and follows up if needed. The objective of this policy is to provide Village employees and volunteers with a systematic method of communicating information to achieve the Council’s strategic objectives and goals.
