Can You Trust Your Attorney?

The Perils of Picking a Lawyer

When you suffer a serious injury, you have a lot on your plate. Between focusing on getting better and trying to get your life back to normal, the last thing you need to worry about is whether or not you can trust your attorney. A good personal injury attorney will make sure you don’t have to worry about insurance adjusters, reams of paperwork, and the chances of your case succeeding. A bad one will leave you with just another headache. You might be wondering, “How can I tell if an attorney is trustworthy?” Well, there are a few major red flags that let you know they might not be. Anybody who promises you the fastest resolution possible probably doesn’t have your best interests at heart. Getting you the compensation you deserve can take time. When a firm promises quick turnaround, they probably rely on massive volume to sustain their business. As a result, they don’t have the time or resources to devote to fighting on your behalf. Another warning sign somebody isn’t worth hiring is how they treat you on your first interaction. Do they seem genuinely interested in your case and you? If not, you should run for the hills. Even worse, some attorneys will begin charging you money from your very first visit. That may not seem out of the ordinary to you, but it goes against every standard in the personal injury industry.

Our firm, on the other hand, will give your case the attention and care it needs. We have years of experience in personal injury cases, and it’s the sole focus of our practice. This single-minded focus lets you know that you’re dealing with a seasoned personal injury lawyer. During my career, I’ve seen every type of case you can think of. My goal is to use every tool at our disposal to get you the compensation you’re entitled to under law. No cut corners, no BS — just a dedicated, knowledgeable staff working on your case. More generally, I actually care about your case and understand what you’re going through. The first time I considered pursuing personal injury law was after a family car accident. Our case, in which a tractor trailer rammed into a family friend’s car and subsequently our own, should’ve been rock-solid. There was no doubt who was at fault (the semi driver), and many of us were pretty severely injured. The attorney we hired, however, didn’t deliver on his promise to make sure our case was handled properly. I was 13 at the time, so I don’t really know precisely why the case failed, but I think I knew even then that it shouldn’t have. I still think about that experience all the time, and I vow to never be that attorney. Needless to say, personal injury cases matter to me.

When you are injured through no fault of your own, you are entitled to compensation. It’s an attorney’s job to make sure you get it. Don’t settle for somebody who’s going through the motions. With an attorney you can trust, the process becomes a lot less stressful.
