New Location Leads to New Beginnings I Have Many Family Ties to This Land

Moving the firm wasn’t really something I had planned to do. But a unique situation arose in the spring of 2021, and I couldn’t pass up the opportunity. My family friends decided that they wanted to move to be closer to their new grandchild, which is a decision I understand wholeheartedly. So, they reached out to me to see if I would like to purchase their property, and of course, I agreed. I have so many memories tied to this land, and I’m looking forward to adding to those memories with all of you. It’s an honor to bring Trinity Elder Law to the property where I spent so much time growing up, and to continue building on the legacy started by my grandmother and continued by my friends. Our old location served us well, and we had some fun times in the historical building, but I’m excited to open this new chapter for the firm. I’m grateful that the overall process of purchasing the land, working with contractors, and designing the office was smooth and seamless — I enjoyed it a lot! However, I’m really looking forward to your reaction when you see the new space. The new location and building are in a quiet, peaceful, and comfortable location. You don’t have to worry about traffic, noise, or stoplights. Instead, mature trees and

The holiday season is coming to an end, and we are now entering the season of renewal and growth. As I look at 2023 and what it has to offer for myself, the firm, and my clients, one thing comes to mind: the new location of our office. I briefly mentioned in December’s newsletter that Trinity Elder Law is moving to a new location starting in January, and the time has finally come! I’m excited to officially open the new office and better serve you and your family. The land our new firm is located on is near and dear to my heart, as the property previously belonged to my grandmother. My grandmother purchased the property where the office is now located as part of a larger farm. There is a large field on the property, and one of my favorite childhood memories is riding my horse through the field at a full gallop. Eventually, my grandmother sold a portion of the property, and close family friends bought the land. They built their home and ran their business from the property for over thirty years. The family friends who purchased the land were actually more like a second set of parents to me. They were incredibly kind to me, and I spent many nights eating dinner in their home.

beautiful landscape surround you. In addition to the quiet location and comfortable atmosphere, we’ve also added an easily accessible bathroom and entrance ramp to the building. In the future, I would like to add more amenities that will improve your overall experience with the firm and its services. There used to be horse stalls and a horse pasture on the property, and I’m planning to convert the paddock to a dog run in the future. Then, when you and your dog come for your four-legged family member planning, they can stretch their legs and enjoy some playtime. I hope you are excited about the New Year as I am. I’m looking forward to what this year will bring to us all. Happy New Year, everyone!

WITH FOCUS AND SUPPORT! Another Chance to Get It Right New Year’s resolutions and goals seem to be on everyone’s radar, but they cannot be achieved without action! Resolutions tend to get a bad rap because of how many people fail to get past January before they give up altogether. So, it may be time to take a new approach! Start with a specific goal. Millions of people resolve to lose weight, be more productive, or give up bad habits for the new year. But instead of choosing a general, ambiguous goal, focus on something more concrete you can realistically measure and achieve! What about that new promotion, career opportunity, or even an advanced degree? Getting specific on how the goal is essential to your career will get you past the inevitable obstacles and failures. It will be worth the time, energy, and heart you invest in a career enhancement. Commit to developing your networks. Your professional network influences your career potential. You don’t have to attend every event and mixer, but choosing a few opportunities to connect with others or meet new people can be a building block of your resolution. Get those events on your calendar for a greater chance of sticking with the plan! Create an accountability system. Consider choosing a trusted person — personally or professionally — to check in periodically to see how you are progressing on your goals. This way, they can offer encouragement, brainstorm ideas, and hold you accountable for sticking with it. Putting thoughts on paper is also a great way to hold yourself accountable! In a journal, you can write down everything you want to accomplish within a set time frame and continuously check off the things you finish! Strive for progress, not perfection. Striving for perfection can derail your progress in the long run, so it’s important to frame your goals in terms of knowledge, networks, and experiences you collect along the path to success. No one is perfect, and everyone has setbacks along their road to success. Still, if you set your sights on the goals and take it one step at a time, you are that much closer to achievement.

3 INDOOR ACTIVITIES FOR DEMENTIA PA Winter is in full swing, meaning more people are staying inside to avoid the harsh winter breeze. While staying indoors will keep you warm and comfortable, it can be difficult to find activities to do with your aging parent — especially if they have dementia. Keeping dementia patients engaged in daily activities is beneficial for the body and the mind, so here are three activities you can do to improve your loved one’s day. Get moving by listening to music. Music is a great way to bond with others; discussing the artist or genre you’re listening to. It can also help your parent remember their youth and the good times associated with music. So, put on their favorite tune and see if they have any memories to share. You can also encourage them to dance with you, which can give them that daily dose of exercise. Release your inner child by coloring. There are several adult coloring books on the market right now, but you can also print out sheets from the internet. While coloring is a relaxing and soothing activity, it will also help your loved one with their motor skills. Staying between the lines and shading in the areas can maintain your loved one’s hand-eye coordination and dexterity. Get crafty by creating a scrapbook. DIY scrapbooks are a great way to spend time with your loved ones and help them strengthen their cognitive abilities. You can either make a scrapbook out of family pictures, where you and your loved Keep Loved Ones Engaged

3 Financial Strategies for Your Estate Plan

When you think about financial planning, you may think of creating a budget, adding money to your 401(k) and any savings or retirement accounts, or making financial goals. While these steps are essential, financial planning is also used within estate planning. In honor of January being Financial Wellness Month, here are three things you can do to prepare your finances within your estate plan. Review your financial accounts. As you’re reviewing your assets, it’s best to double-check that all accounts are listed in your plan. It will also be beneficial to create a document containing your usernames and passwords to your banking and other financial accounts. These passwords will be helpful if your financial power of attorney needs to look at your accounts, pay bills on your behalf, or sell property and other belongings.

one can share fond memories, or you can cut out clippings from magazines that interest you. You can help them sort images according to subject, date, color, or event to improve their mental muscles. You can do many activities inside with your loved ones, but we understand that there is more to caring for someone with dementia than developing activities for them to keep them engaged. Because of this, Julie Anderson created the book “You’re Not Alone: Living as an Alzheimer’s Caregiver” to provide the resources and information you need during this time. To receive your FREE copy, go to TrinityElderLaw.com/470-2 to request your book.

Save money for later use. If you have young children or pets

you’re looking after, you may want to leave money in your estate plan for appointed guardians to use

for future expenses. It’s best to calculate how much money you will need to support your children or four-legged friends for their lifetime, then add additional funds in case of emergencies. While it’s vital that you outline who will care for your loved ones and animals when you’re unable to do so yourself, you also want to ensure they are financially stable.

Puzzle Time!

Keep your financial power of attorney up to speed.

Whether you add or remove a financial account, place more funds in your estate plan, or have any requests or wishes you want followed, your financial power of attorney needs to know. This person will be speaking on your

behalf if you’re incapacitated or pass away, so they must understand your needs and any updates you have regarding your finances. They can ensure your wishes are granted if you effectively communicate with them. If you have any questions about your finances, how they play a role in your estate plan, or how to properly plan for your four-legged family members, allow your friends at Trinity Elder Law & Estate Planning to assist you. We will be happy to answer your questions, ease your concerns, and ensure everything is in place.

The Dirty Truth About TikTok Ads

Frankel posted her own video decrying the scammer, only to watch TikTok remove it for “abusive content.” In a last-ditch attempt to protect her reputation, she sued the platform for failing to protect her reputation and allowing users to post fake ads, calling it “a breeding ground for scams.” If you use TikTok, Instagram, or Facebook, Frankel’s story should serve as a warning: The ads you see sliding by on your smartphone screen may not be legitimate. To protect yourself from scammers, take these three steps. 1. Go to the source for celebrity endorsements. Visit the celebrity’s official social media page and/or website. Any products they’re advertising should be visible there. 2. Avoid in-app purchases. It’s easy to buy products on Instagram with a single click — but should you? To avoid scams, leave the app and visit the company’s official website to ensure you’re purchasing the real thing. 3. Look for signs of photoshopping, editing, and manipulation. Does the celebrity’s face look tacked onto another person’s body, or does their phrasing sound broken and clipped together? Is the celebrity sponsoring the ad, or is the brand just using their name (perhaps misspelled) for cachet? Look for these signs before you buy.

Imagine you’re scrolling through your social media feed when an ad pops up starring one of your favorite celebrities. Maybe it’s quarterback Tom Brady talking about his favorite brand of beer or actress Julia Roberts showing off her new shoes. You’re intrigued enough to buy the product. But when it arrives, your jaw drops. This isn’t the hottest new luxury item! It’s just a cheap knockoff of Budweiser or Jimmy Choo. How would you feel about your celebrity “friend”? According to Page Six, this exact situation happened to fans of “Real Housewives of New York City” actress and Skinnygirl founder Bethenny Frankel. A scam artist stole clips of her promoting a designer product and edited them, making it appear as if she were selling knockoff cardigans. Celebrity Lawsuit Calls TikTok ‘Breeding Ground for Scams’ Are the Ads You See Real or Fake?

Ultimately, when buying online, just remember to think before you click. Skepticism is a TikTok user’s best friend.
