NEW! STEP AFRIKA! - THE FRUITS OF OUR LABOR Step Afrika! premieres The Fruits of Our Labor (TFOL), a bold new work led by South African choreographer Vusi Mdoyi and long-time Step Afrika! collaborator Jakari Sherman. Blending the power of stepping, body percussion, and contemporary
dance with the vibrant energy of isipantsula and the South African gumboot dance, the production brings together a cast of virtuosic dancers who merge rhythm and ritual, history, and storytelling. Founded in 1994 by C. Brian Williams, Step Afrika! is the first professional company dedicated to the tradition of stepping. Under Mr. Williams’ leadership, stepping has evolved into one of America’s cultural exports, touring more than 60 countries across the globe, and the Company now ranks as one of the top ten African-American dance companies in

STEP AFRIKA! - THE EVOLUTION TOUR The Evolution Tour features a live DJ performing on stage with Step Afrika!, entertaining audience members as they enter the theater and collaborate with the Company throughout the performance. The Evolution Tour also includes several newly created dance works, never seen outside of the Company’s home in Washington, D.C., and highlights new movement practices learned during the Company’s ground-breaking tour of Southern Africa in summer 2024. The Evolution Tour will introduce unfamiliar audiences to the percussive tradition of stepping, while demonstrating Step Afrika!’s mastery of the form as the world’s leading authority in the artform of stepping. The Evolution Tour gives presenters who have never had the company a great way to introduce their communities to stepping and to Step Afrika! and
