12.1.3 Rotations - Practice

1. Identify the transformation that appears to be a rotation. ○

2. Rotate the triangle about P by ∠ A .

3. Rotate △ XYZ , which has vertices X ( − 4, 7), Y (6, 2), and Z (3, − 8), about the origin by 90°.

4. Rotate △ BAT , which has vertices B ( − 3, − 6), A ( − 2, 11), and T (10, − 4), about the origin by 90°.

5. Rotate △ JKW , which has vertices J ( − 7, 15), K (21, − 62), and W ( − 14, − 32), about the origin by 180°.

6. A water grist mill has a radius of 9 ft and takes 8 seconds to make a complete rotation. A bucket starts at position (9, 0). What are the coordinates of the bucket’s location after 6 seconds? Round values to the nearest tenth.
