With their carefully shelved stocks of the rarest vintages, luxury finishes, and haute design, wine cellars are spectacular statement spaces, de rigueur for hosts of high-caliber events. No longer relegated to the subterranean spaces of the house, wine cellars and wine rooms are integral elements of the home’s entertaining area, serving as showcases not only for fine wines but also for good taste. Here are five U.S. properties, priced at $10 million and higher, that have wine cellars that really raise the bar.

LOS ANGELES Listing price: $28.5 million

Perched on the final promontory of Sunset Strip, this contemporary house, clad in Italian split-face travertine on the interior and exterior, features a temperature- and humidity-controlled wine room that’s conveniently located near the bar and entertainment space. The 250 bottles are displayed, like art, on wooden racks and are sheltered behind sleek glass doors that showcase them. The nearly 10,000-square-foot house is an ideal spot for sipping while taking in the panoramic views that stretch all the way to the Pacific Ocean.
