Customer Success Story

Nicholas Pinto , Industrial Pump Sales, along with the tenacity of the sales and technical team accomplished a huge win for our customer as well as Maag Americas. The official Purchase Order in hand was a celebratory moment made possible due to perseverance. In Nicholas’ own words: June 2022, I started talking to a prospect customer with an interesting application—rocket fuel. The customer was upset with their current pumps and system. The issue was pulsation from the progressive cavity pumps they were currently using, causing the fuel to have a variation in the overall composition of the mixture. They asked MAAG if we could offer a solution! They had been turned down by other companies because they thought it was too hard of an application. They said if we could engineer a solution, they would buy fromus. The composition of the fuel made this a very difficult application. The particle size and (high) viscosity of the mixture made us change the configuration several times. Normally with a high viscosity material you heat it up to make it flow easier. In this instance we couldn’t because it’s combustible fuel. Throughout this process I worked with the application teams in both Switzerland and Italy to go over every detail of the project. We had several revisions, but we finally identified a solution: A custom configuration of a dual drive (recycling style) Extrex. We expect the project start up to occur early September 2023. A special thanks to Switzerland team, Felix Muggli, Jonathan Hummer, and our very own Lloyd Sharp for helping at every step of the process. Many others deserve thanks as well, as this was clearly a team effort.
