When torque tools slip out of calibration, miscalibration impacts product quality. Having an accurate way to regularly test calibration onsite is a great way to reduce risk and ensure safety. With Mountz torque analyzers and sensors, you can test tools before they go into service daily. Testing prevents employees from working with miscalibrated tools and enhances quality management. Using your own torque testing equipment is also more efficient since you can evaluate your tools without sending them to a laboratory. Q6. What is a calibration certificate?

 The torque certificate means that a torque wrench or torque measurement device meets the standards for accuracy and performance requested by the customer or published by the manufacturer.  Torque certification is important in industries where precise torque application is critical, such as automotive, aerospace, manufacturing, and construction.  Our US laboratories are accredited to ISO 17025 and use the same procedures certified to ISO 9001.

Q7. What is a non-accredited calibration certificate?

 A non-accredited torque certificate assures users that the torque wrench or torque measurement device meets recognized standards for accuracy and reliability. This can be essential for ensuring the quality of workmanship, safety, and compliance with industry regulations.  A non-accredited calibration follows the same process as an accredited service but does not include an ISO certification stamp or a statement of measurement uncertainty.

Q9. Why should I purchase an accredited calibration certificate?

 You will be using your tool to calibrate another tool.  Your customer or organization requires an accredited calibration.

Q10. Why is the cost of the accredited calibration higher than that of the non-accredited calibration?

 Accredited calibration is more expensive due to lab certification, auditing, proficiency, and reporting requirements for 17025.

Q11. What is ISO 17025?

 ISO/IEC 17025 is an international standard that specifies the general requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories.  ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation ensures that a laboratory has demonstrated technical competence and can produce precise and accurate test and/or calibration results according to the scope of accreditation (torque tools and measuring instruments)  In summary, ISO/IEC 17025 calibration certification signifies that a laboratory has been accredited to internationally recognized standards for competence in performing calibrations, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of measurement results provided by that laboratory.

Q15. What is tolerance on specific tools?

 Reference Tool Benefits section on the website for published tolerance for each tool. Example: EZ-TorQ III  Power tools ratings are not published because of fastening variables. No set iso standard. Tolerances are published on individual calibration certificates.  Power Tools: Around 10%  Pulse Tools & Battery Operated Tools: Around 15%

Q16. What accessories are required to be sent with the tool, vs optional?

Mountz products: 

Send all impacted accessories or cables for troubleshooting.  If sending legacy (pre 2006) torque analyzer products send in all related torque analyzers, sensors or cables.  Non Mountz products:  Include all related accessories for troubleshooting.

Q17. What tools require a preset value? 

Preset or non-adjustable hand tools and electric screwdrivers.

Q 18. What is the max interval for calibration?

No set rule for a limit.

 Typically users will select a 6 or 12 month interval.  We do not recommend selecting an interval longer than 18 or 24 months.
