W hen watching boxing, you’ll hear all sorts of food phrases. “It’s time to eat” is a trainer telling a fighter to go for it. “He left food on the table” means a fighter could have done a lot more with an opponent. But my favorite one and a phrase that is very common in boxing is “Don’t play with your food.” “Don’t play with your food” essentially means that a fighter is dominating an opponent but letting him or her hang around in a match. The fight thus continues, where anything conceivable could still occur, and denies those observing the ending that they want to see: a knockout. There are several reasons why a fighter might play with their food. One could be a lack of awareness. Often what can happen in a fight is that a boxer doesn’t realize how hurt or
