TOURISM

We give students the opportunity to study a variety of tourism destinations. Previous trips have included visits to Penderyn Whisky – a premium whisky distillery, Scarlets rugby ground and a trip to Nepal. Field trips are designed to make students understand the complexities and requirements of running a tourism destination. The trip to Nepal specifically looks at community development through tourism and will include visits to Kathmandu, Annapurna and other rural areas that are beginning to explore the benefits tourism can have to their economic growth. Please note, the cost of field trips is in addition to the course fees. Students will participate in a range of mandatory field trip experiences, both locally and overseas (destinations may vary year on year). These require additional payment of approximately £1,700 over the duration of the programme. Individuals will be able to apply for travel bursaries from the department and the University’s Go Global team to subsidise this additional cost.
