Knowledge Exchange & Global Feature Story
The School of Biomedical Sciences held, with support from the Croucher Foundation, the inaugural HKU Biomedical Sciences Summer Academy on Aug 2-6, 2021. The event aims to raise secondary school students and teachers’ awareness about biomedical sciences and how biomedical sciences and related research can benefit the human mankind. Program leverages on the unique strengths in pioneering research areas of the School and includes hands-on experiments on Planarians, Protein Crystallography and Cancer Drug Discovery, as well as talks on CRISPR editing, Human Anatomy with VR, Biomedical Entrepreneurship, Big Data and Bioinformatics, a Biomedical Sciences related career roundtable, and more. We have engaged 30 students and their teachers, from 3 different local secondary schools, and is delighted to have received positive and encouraging feedbacks from the participants.
