Santa Claus visited Russell Village on Saturday, November 24, where he and Mrs. Claus were the main attractions at the annual Christmas Parade. The parade was organized by the Russell Lions Club and the Russell Fire Department. Judges were Ken Beamen, Raja Wysocki and Shawn Joanette. There were 30 entries in this year’s parade, down from 39 last year, but Beamen said a lot of work had gone into this year’s entries and the judges were very pleased with the results. The Winchester and District Memorial Hospital won the prize for Most Festive, the Coyotes Girls Bantam Hockey team won Most Creative and St. Mary’s Anglican Church won Best Group or Organization.. Other parades will Saturday in Embrun and Sunday in Casselman. Santa comes to Russell for Christmas Parade
