SOUTH FULTON (GA) ALUMNI CHAPTER Co-Sponsors HIV Awareness and Testing Event
South Fulton Alumni (GA) Chapter co-sponsored and HIV Awareness and Testing event with the Atlanta Suburban Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta on February 22, along with other organizations. The “PrEP and STEP” initiative was held in recognition of National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day, at the Greenbriar Mall. It was the chapter’s first initiative partnering with the women of Delta Sigma Theta, but it went well as the organizations walked the mall, handing out literature and encouraging the public to get tested. SFAC is looking forward to continuing working with other are Divine Nine organizations.
Donates Care Packages for Homeless In commemoration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, members of the South Fulton (GA) Alumni Chapter (SFAC) contributed 114 care packages to the Atlanta Mission for homeless distribution.
SFAC brothers individually ordered items from an Amazon list, consisting of everything from first aid, socks, gloves, scarves, soap, toothpaste, water, hygiene items and breakfast food bars. On Thursday, January 16th, members of the Civic Action committee, Brothers Marc Adams, Wronald Webster, Theo Smith and Damon Peebles, convened at Chairman Corey Robinson’s home to pack the bags. Brother Delwyn Robinson (and his children) met with Robinson on Friday, January 17th, at the Atlanta Mission to offload the bags and provide them to the staff. The Director of In-Kind Donation and Partnership said the chapter’s donation was an amazing blessing and would be used in a nearby men’s shelter and expressed gratitude to the brothers who made the donations. SFAC Hosts "Renaissance Thursdays"
South Fulton Alumni Chapter (SFAC) has been making an impact with its monthly social, Renaissance Thursdays, each third Thursday of the month. Led by Social Committee Charman, Vincent Coakley, the chapter has drawn crowds of supporters and brothers from all of the surrounding metro-Atlanta Kappa chapters. So far, each has been held at Authentic Steak and Seafood, with the last two being well-attended following the presentation of Beta Delta’s (Morris Brown) new initiates, and the charter day celebration of Gamma Epsilon (Tuskegee University). SFAC is just getting started on the social scene, and will continue to grow, with a signature event coming soon.
Volunteers with Senior Valentine's Day Brunch Members of South Fulton Alumni (GA) Chapter (SFAC) volunteered with the City of South Fulton’s annual Senior Valentines Day Sweetheart Day Party on Friday, February 14 in South Fulton, GA. The event was hosted by city councilwomen, Carmalitha Gumbs (District 2) and Dr. Catherine Rowell (District 1) at Enon Ranch event space. It was a day advertised as celebrating the community’s seniors with fellowship, laughter and delicious food. SFAC’s Damon Peebles provided complimentary photography services and a festive Valentine’s Day backdrop, while Brothers Angelo Byrd, Corey Robinson and Chris Williams presented the seniors with roses, much to their delight. The councilwomen were grateful for the contributions of the chapter and are looking forward to more participation next year.
