ALUMNI NEWS

Chaired by Cory Wheaton, the Beautillion marks the culmination of an 8-month leadership development initiative specifically designed for African American high school juniors and seniors. Throughout this period, the young men engage in workshops covering essential topics such as college preparation, financial literacy, and interview skills. They also have opportunities to earn scholarships, with over $50,000 awarded this year alone to aid in their college journey. The goal of the Diamond Beautillion is to assist these young men in their transition to manhood. It fosters habits of independence and accountability that benefit them throughout college and beyond. At the end of the 8 months, participants don tuxedos and are formally presented to society, receiving recognition for their hard work and achievements. This momentous occasion is shared with family and friends, as the community comes together to celebrate their growth and transition to the next chapter of their lives. The banquet serves as proof of their journey and the support they have received along the way. ALPHARETTA-SMYRNA (GA) ALUMNI CHAPTER Keeping Smyrna Clean The Alpharetta-Smyrna Alumni chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc strongly believes in community service. Over the years the chapter has built a long-standing relationship with the city of Smyrna in Cobb County Georgia. To show its continued support, the Alpharetta- Smyrna Alumni chapter has partner with the city to keep Smyrna clean. The chapter exhibited its commitment by adopting a mile highway located in the city and has committed to keeping that mile free of trash and litter. The members of Chapter dedicate their time quarterly to trash removal. The latest adopt-a-mile campaign took place on April 12, 2025. The volunteers meet at a agreed upon location at a specific time and walk the mile with trash bags and trash pickers and ensure that the entire mile is completely free of trash and litter. The Alpharetta-Smyrna Alumni chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc believes strongly in achievement and providing service to the community is one of the highest levels of ACHIEVEMENT.

Empowering Future Leaders: The 10th Biennial Diamond Beautillion Pouring into and preparing the next generation of young men for leadership is what we are all about. The Alpharetta- Smyrna Alumni Chapter, through its philanthropic arm, the Krimson Community Foundation, demonstrates this commitment in many ways. On April 6th, 2025, KCF culminated 8 months of investing in the lives of multiple young men as they transition to manhood. This event provided them the opportunity to participate in the 10th Biennial Diamond Beautillion, a celebration dubbed “A Night of Excellence." “One of the things that young men are lacking is other men in their lives. They can look to these men and see where they can be when they grow up,” says KCF Chair Lamont Bates in a video featured by WSBTV News. This sentiment captures the essence of the Diamond Beautillion Program. Since its inception in 2005, the program has matriculated 96 young men and awarded over $200,000 in scholarships to those who exemplify academic promise, strong leadership, and community involvement. The program helps participants realize their inherent potential and possibilities.
