Spotlight on Service: Honoring Our Brothers for a Lifetime of Dedication Presidential Lifetime Volunteer Service Award Recipients The Decatur Alumni Chapter proudly celebrates three distinguished brothers—Clarence Wells, Samuel “Pat” Patterson, and Darrell Taylor—as recipients of the Presidential Lifetime Volunteer Service Award. This national honor recognizes individuals who have made a lifelong commitment to volunteer service and community empowerment. These men embody our fraternity’s guiding principle: Achievement in Every Brother Clarence Wells has dedicated decades to community uplift through unwavering service. A Spring 1992 initiate of the Decatur Alumni Chapter, Brother Wells currently serves as Executive Director of the Community Achievement Center (CAC). Under his leadership, the CAC has partnered with local organizations to bring transformative programs in STEM education, scholastic testing, and summer schooling for economically challenged youth. He is an active member of Antioch Baptist North, where he serves on both the New Member and Finance Committees. Additionally, his past leadership includes roles as a board member of Celine’s Place and Lady T’s Homeless Ministry. His many accolades include being a Lester J. Hampton Awardee, recognizing his outstanding service to the Decatur community. Brother Samuel “Pat” Patterson Brother Samuel “Pat” Patterson, a Spring 1967 initiate of the Alpha Sigma Chapter at Southern University, brings a legacy of law enforcement leadership, youth mentorship, and community building. As former Chief of Police in Riverdale, GA, he led the department to both state and national certification. Field of Human Endeavor. Brother Clarence Wells Brother Patterson’s volunteerism shines through his work with The Winning Circle, a program dedicated to enriching the lives of youth through cultural exposure, travel, government engagement, and STEM education. He also supports the Inner City Classic, a football showcase that connects student-athletes with scholarship opportunities. A Past Polemarch, Life Member, and Southeastern Province – Joseph R. Jenkins Awardee, Brother Patterson currently serves as the Southeastern Province Director for the Kappa Foundation. Brother Darrell Taylor Brother Darrell Taylor, a Spring 2018 initiate of the Decatur Alumni Chapter, currently leads as the Polemarch of the Chapter. For over three decades, he has championed public safety and civic responsibility in DeKalb County. Brother Taylor is a founding board member of the Parks of Stonecrest Community Civic Association (PSCCA) and chaired its National Night Out event for eight consecutive years. His leadership also extends to the Governor’s Commission – Community Committee and

the Technology Association of Georgia (TAG), where he serves as a mentor and holds four patents in technology innovation. Taylor’s efforts as a board member of both the Community Achievement Center and KAPsi Foundation reinforce his steadfast commitment to creating lasting impact. A Brotherhood Rooted in Service The accomplishments of Brothers Wells, Patterson, and Taylor exemplify the purpose and mission of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Their work continues to inspire and elevate our chapter, our community, and our legacy. Let us salute their achievements, honor their service, and strive to follow their example.

BROTHER CHRISTOPHER E. JOHNSON DECATUR (GA) ALUMNI Dr. Christopher E. Johnson, Southeastern Province Historian and Achievement Academy Chairman has been named REALTOR® of the Year for the DeKalb Association of REALTORS ®. He will now be entered to the competition for Georgia Association of REALTORS ® REALTOR of the Year. In addition to this prestigious honor, Dr. Johnson is also a recipient of the National Association of REALTORS ® 2004 Good Neighbor Award, recognizing his outstanding contributions to both the real estate profession and the community.
