The return of the face-to-face public sector SIG
M anaging holiday pay, data quality and hybrid working were concerns raised by CIPP members and discussed at the latest public sector special interest group (SIG) update. The fully booked event, which took place during National Payroll Week in September, was the first in-person event to be held by the SIG, following a three-year break due to Covid-19. The update, held at RSM UK’s London offices, was hosted by Shaun Tetley FCIPP, SIG chair (pictured).

Shaun said: “What a pleasure it was to finally be face-to-face once again, networking and learning from each other. Feedback from the delegates was that this was an outstanding event and I’m glad to hear the speakers and content was well received and helpful.” What was on the agenda? The agenda covered the key areas affecting payroll professionals, including compliance, pensions, employment law and employment tax. Speakers included the CIPP’s policy and research officer, Mathew Akrigg ,
who gave a payroll update, flagging government consultations on HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) data collection and public sector exit payments. Richard Smith, Pensions Dashboards consultant , spoke about the challenges surrounding the upcoming pensions dashboards.
