ELEMENT 6.5 - HELICOPTER RESCUE FROM WATER
Learning objective:
The participants show interest in the principles of donning a HELO sling in the water (Ability, basic level)
The instructor shall:
Explain correct behaviour related to own rescue from water to helicopter without assistance from helicopter rescue swimmer Explain and demonstrate the fitting of a helicopter lifting sling, subsequent lifting and (simulated) entry into a rescue helicopter including:
a)
Single lift
b)
Body posture
c)
Aircraft entry
The participants shall:
Practice donning a HELO sling in the water
ELEMENT 6.6 - SUMMARY BY EXERCISE
The instructor shall :
Brief on the following exercise and explain safety procedures of the exercise to ensure that the participants understand that they are to apply their abilities gained in Lesson 6 practical sea survival – including their knowledge, skills, accountability, responsibility and initiative. Provide constructive feedback on the participants ability to take responsibility and act correctly in a simulated emergency situation at sea
Participants shall:
Apply their abilities to act correctly and independently or in cooperation with others in a simulated emergency situation at sea
Demonstrate the following in one coherent scenario:
Controlled entry into the water from a height
Individual swimming techniques
Correct use of collective techniques to prevent hypothermia
