4. BST WORKING AT HEIGHT
The following equipment is required to instruct the BST Working at Height with Manual Handling Module.
Within each equipment category one product or more must be operative for practical training. Required additional different products are accepted in a limited quantity as products for hands-on demonstration. The instructor must select the most relevant products according to their geographic location and target audience.
Full Body Harness:
At least 2 different products
Work restraint lanyards
At least 2 different adjustable products
Fixed length fall arrest lanyards with an energy absorber:
1 flexible Y-type;
1 fixed adjustable Y- or I-type.
Recommended but not required: 1 fixed or flexible V-type.
Helmets
Vertical fall arrest system with the following sliders/gliders:
Cable Guide twist type attachment
Cable Guide Slot type attachment
Cable Guide Clamp Type attachment
Rail type attachment
Self-Retractable Lifeline (SRL)
Slings
Note:
The European Standard for slings specifies safety requirements and test methods for slings used for mountaineering (slings are used as anchor points and since there are no industrial standard for slings, they must also comply with the requirements in EN795 type B, anchor devices)
Carabiner with mandatory automatic closing and locking system
Evacuation/Rescue devices:
1 emergency descent and 1 rescue device, or,
2 different rescue devices
Rope clamp for rescue (enabling lifting/safe disconnection of a loaded rope type fall protection lanyard)
