ELEMENT 3.1 - ANATOMY
The instructor shall:
Lead a discussion about muscular and skeletal Injuries related to Manual Handling, including:
a. back injuries, e.g. slipped disc
b. muscle strains
Explain the relationship between injury and spinal anatomy and posture
Explain the relationship between shoulder anatomy and common injuries when working above shoulder height, e.g. tendonitis, bursitis
Participants shall:
Describe typical muscular and skeletal injuries to the back and shoulders related to manual handling Describe the relationship between muscular and skeletal injuries, and spinal anatomy and posture
ELEMENT 3.2 - SYMPTOM AWARENESS
The instructor shall:
Lead a discussion about symptom awareness and the importance of early detection and treatment
Participants shall:
Describe typical symptoms of muscular and skeletal injuries
Explain the importance of early detection and treatment
ELEMENT 3.3 - REPORTING METHODS
The instructor shall:
Lead a discussion about reporting methods and procedures in case of injuries
a. National requirements
b. Company specifics
Participants shall:
Describe typical injury reporting methods
